Suspect from Santa Maria Taken into Custody on Warrant

On March 25, 2025, around 9:45 a.m., the Santa Barbara Police Department served an arrest warrant in the 100 block of East El Camino Street in Santa Maria. The warrant was for 25-year-old Santa Maria resident David De Los Santos, who was taken into custody without incident.

The arrest warrant stemmed from an event that occurred in Santa Barbara on October 27, 2024, around 1:00 a.m., when officers responded to the 1st West block of Gutierrez Street following a report of shots fired in the area.

After a five-month investigation, De Los Santos was identified and subsequently arrested for his involvement in the incident. He was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon/firearm and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

In addition to the charges associated with the arrest warrant, the following new charges were referred to the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office against De Los Santos: carrying a loaded firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, and possession of a firearm with an altered or removed serial number. De Los Santos’s bail is set at $100,000.

This investigation is ongoing, and no further information is available at this time.
