A local emergency curfew takes effect [June 1], prohibiting people from traveling upon public streets, parks, and other public places within the City Limits, between 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8th. There are exemptions.

Exemptions: individuals traveling to and from their place of employment, individuals seeking emergency medical care, and representatives of the news media.
Also exempted: law enforcement personnel, firefighting personnel, emergency health care providers, emergency medical personnel, and civilians engaged in police or emergency work.
The order is a tool to address the threat of civil unrest and lack of social distancing.
The curfew was announced today by Mayor Alice Patino at a news conference to address Sunday’s demonstration and protests. She explained that we cannot lose sight of the reason and purpose for Sunday’s peaceful demonstration. She will say that this is a moment for our community and country to stand united against racism, and for equal justice for all.
Tens of thousands of protestors took to the streets across the country again Sunday, with peaceful demonstrations against police killings of black people overshadowed by unrest that ravaged other cities from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. Other cities and states enacted curfews, deployed police officers, and deployed National Guard soldiers.
