On Thursday, June 4, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers with the Santa Maria Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 500 block of South Broadway.
Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported by ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Officers immediately secured the scene and conducted an extensive canvass for witnesses and evidence while working to identify those responsible. The Santa Maria Police Department Detective Bureau’s Violent Crime Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation and is actively pursuing leads.
The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives are seeking additional witnesses or information that may assist in identifying the suspect(s) involved.
