Re: People v. Carlos V.; a matter filed in the Juvenile Court

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that felony charges have been filed against a second juvenile in connection with the November 2, 2018 shooting death of Salomon Morales Robles in Santa Maria, California.

Carlos V., age 17, is charged by felony petition of Murder, in violation of Penal Code section 187, and two counts of Attempted Murder in connection with the November 3, 2018 shootings of two other individuals, also in Santa Maria. In addition, special allegations that a principal was armed with a firearm during the commission of those offenses, and that the offenses were committed in association with and to benefit a criminal street gang, are alleged as to each count.

Because Carlos V. is 17 years old, this case must be initially filed in the Juvenile Court. Arraignment is expected to occur on Thursday, January 3, 2019.  Pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code § 676(g), information regarding the arraignment and any subsequent hearings may be obtained from the Juvenile Court. Media requests should be directed to the Juvenile Clerk at (805) 614-6579.
