After nearly 40 years in business and shaped by several owners over the decades, Paradise Found, the downtown Santa Barbara metaphysical bookstore, has been listed for sale.
The listing presents an opportunity for a new owner to take over the long-running shop located in the city’s arts and theater district.
The business, which has been in operations since 1986, is listed for sale with an asking price of $325,000, according to BizBuySell. The leased storefront is located about half a block from State Street across from the Santa Barbara Public Library.
According to the listing, the store operates under a below-market lease, which may offer an advantage in an area where retail rents are typically high.
The shop is located in Santa Barbara’s arts and theater district near landmarks such as the Santa Barbara Museum of Art and the Santa Barbara Courthouse, according to the business website.
Nearby parking options include the Granada Garage and street parking along Anapamu Street.
According to the listing, the business employs three full-time staff members. The owner reportedly spends about eight hours each week in the store and about 20 hours managing operations remotely.
The operation is also supported by independent contractors who handle marketing, newsletters, social media, and the online store.
The inventory is managed through a tracking system that records individual sales and maintains year-over-year reports.
Over the years, Paradise Found has developed a steady customer base.
Founded in 1986, Paradise Found has served customers interested in personal growth and spirituality, according to the business website.
The shop carries books on topics such as meditation, philosophy, herbal remedies, and children’s development. It also sells crystals, minerals, candles, incense, journals, statuettes, and jewelry.
The store also hosts intuitive readings conducted by practitioners.
Over the years, the bookstore has changed ownership several times while continuing to focus on spiritual and personal-development themes.

The current owner, Teresa, has operated Paradise Found for about 25 years.
“With a full and grateful heart, I am ready to pass the torch — to hand off the baton of the sacred little entity known as Paradise Found to its next inspired and willing steward,” she wrote in a recent Instagram post.

Hopefully, someone will buy this business and continue to keep this local gem in operation for another 40 years. A great place to buy unique products and gifts. We purchased a Tibetan (Nepalese?) “singing” bowl from Paradise Found years ago and enjoy using it almost every day. It has such a great sound/tone.
