Local resident and business owner Carlin Dunne won first place in his division of the Pike's Peak Hillclimb in Colorado last week.
Dunne, who owns the Ducati of Santa Barbara dealership, won the event four times on June 24, 2018, making it his 4th win of the event. In 2012 he was the first to win the event under 10 minutes with a 9:52.819 time on a Ducati Multistrada 1200 S.
The next year he won his third "King of the Mountain" title with a time of 10:00.694 on a Lightning electric motorcycle. In 2017, Chris Fillmore beat his record with a time of 9:49:625 on a 2017 KTM Super Duke 1290 R. But this year, Ducati came back on top with Dunne's fourth win at 9:59:102.
Dunne's career started with BMX and mountain bike racing, but he retired from mountain biking in 2007 and invested in Ducati of Santa Barbara where he could focus on professional motorcycle racing, he said in an interview with CycleWorld.
