Santa Barbara TOT Increases 22% in January

The City of Santa Barbara received $1,262,005 in transient occupancy tax (TOT) for the month of January 2018, which is 22.1% above January 2017 collections. This month’s increase can largely be attributed to additional stays from local residents and emergency workers as a result of the Thomas Fire and Debris Flow events.  In addition, the opening of a new hotel on lower State Street in the fall continues to contribute to this year’s growth.

January marks the seventh month in the City’s fiscal year, which runs from July 1 through June 30.  The City’s adopted TOT budget is $19,262,400.
