More than 100 Santa Barbara residents gathered Saturday on both sides of five overpasses on Highway 101 to support passage of Proposition 50, displaying signs proclaiming “YES ON PROP 50” to northbound and southbound traffic.

California Proposition 50, also known as the Election Rigging Response Act, is an amendment that will appear on the special election in November and authorizes temporary changes to Congressional District Maps in response to Texas’ partisan redistricting.

The signs spanned six miles of highway, from the De La Guerra pedestrian overpass in Santa Barbara to Turnpike Road in Noleta and was organized by the local activist group Indivisible Santa Barbara.

“Californians must stand strong in the face of Trump’s assault on our democracy,” said Keith Carlson, President of Indivisible Santa Barbara and the leader of this event. “A vote for Proposition 50 is a vote against Trump’s attempt to rig the 2026 elections by ordering states like Texas to redraw lines to create new Republican districts. With Proposition 50, Californians can fight back against Trump, ensuring that the upcoming battle for control of Congress is waged on a level playing field.”

This event was part of a series of “Hold the Line” actions organized across the state by the CA Strong coalition of activist organizations. These actions included overpass displays from Santa Barbara north to San Luis Obispo.

    • GT – if that wasn’t a wake up call to the world that he’s incapacitated, I don’t know what is. I can’t believe they allowed him to ramble, blatantly lie and spout gibberish for over an hour. Imagine being a 4 star general and watching your boss look like a drunk old racist granddad who wandered away from the home in his underwear and started babbling on a park bench. That was their leader right there. Insanely embarrassing to our country. He is not mentally fit to lead. I’m not just making fun of the dumb pile of skin, I’m seriously concerned the old fool was either drunk or is losing control of his facilities or both.

Biden was old and starting to slip, but Trump is completely lost. I don’t think he even realized who he was “speaking” to this morning.

      • SAC – TRUMP isn’t well, physically or upstairs. He is surrounded by sycophants who are sick with power – and jockey to feed him conspiracy theories. His memory loss for people’s names (eg; Mr. Japan) and names of historical events is shocking. He gets asked a very simple question and then his conversation meanders drastically to a foggy self-aggrandizing speech.

  1. Real big turnout, of a few old white folks. If you count the bike riders hanging out just to chit chat I think there’s about 10. You’d think there’d be a better effort if you really want to distract highway drivers.

    • Good GOD BASIC. READ THE MFING FIRST SENTENCE.

“More than 100 Santa Barbara residents gathered Saturday on both sides of five overpasses on Highway 101”

FIVE overpasses. Not just this one.

      and also this one….

“This event was part of a series of “Hold the Line” actions organized across the state by the CA Strong coalition of activist organizations. These actions included overpass displays from Santa Barbara north to San Luis Obispo.”

I actually saw many south of SB in the LA area today as well. How do you know if the cyclists were there only to “chit chat?” You know you’ve never even been on a bike or even near a sidewalk in decades.

Why do you insist on ALWAYS sounding like the dumbest kid in the class?

  2. The sheer stupidity of these people never ceases to amaze me. Intentionally causing a distraction in a place where a distraction can kill has to be among the top 10 dumbest ideas to date.
It’s an automatic “no” from me when I see things like this.

  3. BASIC – explain in your own words how redistricting in CA to counter the effects of Texas’ forced redistricting is related to undocumented immigrants.

Remember, they can’t (and don’t – no evidence yet) vote.

Will you run away and ignore your own claim or man up and answer?
