More than 100 Santa Barbara residents gathered Saturday on both sides of five overpasses on Highway 101 to support passage of Proposition 50, displaying signs proclaiming “YES ON PROP 50” to northbound and southbound traffic.
California Proposition 50, also known as the Election Rigging Response Act, is an amendment that will appear on the special election in November and authorizes temporary changes to Congressional District Maps in response to Texas’ partisan redistricting.
The signs spanned six miles of highway, from the De La Guerra pedestrian overpass in Santa Barbara to Turnpike Road in Noleta and was organized by the local activist group Indivisible Santa Barbara.
“Californians must stand strong in the face of Trump’s assault on our democracy,” said Keith Carlson, President of Indivisible Santa Barbara and the leader of this event. “A vote for Proposition 50 is a vote against Trump’s attempt to rig the 2026 elections by ordering states like Texas to redraw lines to create new Republican districts. With Proposition 50, Californians can fight back against Trump, ensuring that the upcoming battle for control of Congress is waged on a level playing field.”
This event was part of a series of “Hold the Line” actions organized across the state by the CA Strong coalition of activist organizations. These actions included overpass displays from Santa Barbara north to San Luis Obispo.

Judging by Trump’s low-energy, rambling, disjointed speech today, Vance may have to take over as President soon. It is obvious Trump’s physical and health is very bad. Prop 50 will pass. It didn’t have to be this way if criminals Abbot abd Paxton down in Texas didn’t force the issue. Democrats will take the majority in the mid terms, Vance will take over for Trump due to his poor health and then be voted out in 2028. Trump was talking about “N” words today in front of 800 generals and admirals. He was trying to make some joke about the word nuclear and it was so cringe. Something is very wrong. If you look at full pictures of the president, the recent ones from Windsor castle for example, you can see his ankles and calves so swollen they make his feet look tiny.
What’s funny is Basic, the independent voter who voted for Trump, defending this one hour dementia ridden word salad. Trump seemed disoriented. I dont think it is sustainable.

“Yes on prop 50” isn’t anymore distracting than “Drive high get a DUI” or “Rest stop 27 miles, CLOSED”, or someone’s humorous bumper sticker, and if the simple public advocacy of an issue is the thing that turns you against that issue, then I’d say you are not using your best judgement about what issues to support.
