Santa Barbara has been ranked as 2020’s 10th Best Small College City in America, according to a new WalletHub report.
The personal finance website compared more than 400 U.S. cities based on 31 key indicators of academic, social, and economic growth potential. The data set ranges from cost of living to quality of high education to the crime rate.

- 197th – % of Part-Time Jobs

- 92nd – % of Rental Units
- 177th – Students per Capita
Santa Barbara ranks No. 39 overall and No. 10 among small-size cities. Isla Vista was ranked No. 1 for the highest share of rental units and No. 4 for the highest share of part-time jobs.
The top 10 list of best small college cities also includes Ann Arbor, MI; Provo, UT; and Cambridge, MA.
