Whoa, wtf is this? The idea that we the public are somehow protected by knowing names is absolute hogwash, all this serves to do is to put the scales of justice in the hands of the public instead of where it belongs: the courtroom. I am vehemently opposed to blasting a single version of events across the searchable internet at the expense of presumed innocence. This is a slippery slope.

Police reports have been available for the public to read for many decades. We have a right to know what kind of criminal activity is going on in our neighborhoods. And who is performing this activity. The "presumed innocent" will still get their day in court, or fined, or whatever the disciplinary action may be.

Need photos, too. How is this different from reporting gun/drug dealers with names and pics? It's not "public shaming," it is "Hey. Looks who's stumbling around drunk/driving drunk/trespassing in your neighborhood now."

Aw cmon, really? Do you ACLU types really think the SBPD has got the wrong guy or trying to ruin someone's reputation somehow? I'm with others who want to know as much as is reasonable about the criminals who are all around our neighborhoods. Sure, include mugshots too - let's see what these fools look like. They'll have PLENTY of chances to r deem themselves these days. They're likely all back out on the streets already.

Aw c'mon, really? You forgot that our entire criminal justice system is based on the presumption of innocence until guilt is proven in court?

I'm really glad SBPD put this out. My kid witnessed the incident with the guy on the roof, and we wondered what happened after the police got him. She knew he was a transient, but glad to see it confirmed. It's interesting to find out some went to jail, some were cited, etc. It's also interesting to see that locals, out-of-area people, juveniles, are the offenders. Gives a more complete picture of what citizens are experiencing, who's doing it, and what happens to them.

All you have to do is look at national news they blast names of everyone especially police officers. oh but not the one who shot a unarmed woman at the capital. Looking at my ring doorbell let’s me know how many creeps crawl around our yards at night I want to see faces so I can be more vigilant and safe.

Arrests are of public record. I don't see a problem publishing arrest details. When law enforcement rounds up "Johns" in prostitution stings, they usually publish the names and mugshots. Nothing new.
