There are several police units parked on State Street with an area circled with caution tape on Toyon Drive/State between 7-Eleven and the hotel across the street.

  1. I failed to mention that the “abandoned” vehicle was parked completely in the bike lane on State St and partially blocking the driveway to the hotel. By the way, Chik-fil-A now has two service lanes for taking orders, so I’ve not seen a backup in that area for months….but I do see the place chockablock full on most days, and the only “iffy” thing is IF I should get the 12 nugget order or IF I should get the mind-blowing 30 nugget extravaganza.

  3. Drove past that area twice about 10 minutes ago (gotta have my “nuggets” from Chik-fil-A!!). No less than five police vehicles, area taped off, and what appears to be some sort of crime scene video or camera set up on a tripod. Also, an “abandoned” Toyota/Honda four-dour passenger car w/two officers mulling around the front passenger door. Did not see any blood drops, which would have been difficult to see from my SUV and aging eyes. The whole area along State Street between Alamar and Hwy 154 has gotten quite “iffy.” Very sad to see that area degrading so much.

  5. It’s absolutely amazing how much speculation goes on.
When I see the terms “I bet” and “probably”, I just chalk it up to,,,, well, we won’t go there. Please don’t speculate (that can actually get you in trouble!) and opine if only you can substantiate. Yes, the first amendment; however, those guys were smart enough to make you put your money where your mouth is.
    And stop chasing cops!
    And fire trucks!
    And ambulances!

  7. And I was in that room at one time in my life!!!! Hahaha!!!!! The exact same room. DANG! That’s crazy. I hope everything works out and everyone is okay. Yes. It’s a pretty sketch spot. Definitely not on the Auto Club hotel list. BTW,,, don’t do the continental breakfast, just skip across the street to 7-11. Way safer on the pipes, if you know what I mean…

  9. You should send the cops a note regarding your thoughts. Let them know they should not “speculate” what the substance they found is until it has been confirmed. I think in cop talk they use the word suspect. Is that OK? Also, there’s going to be some attorney’s upset with you somewhere if you want to stop ambulance chasing. But, I’ll bet there are none in our town. Please, take us wherever you were going when you wanted to “chalk it up.” Now I’m “speculating” what you were going to write. Was it profound, arrogant, witty, dumb? I won’t “speculate” any more, you’re “probably” (I’ll let you fill in the last appropriate adjective). Have a great day.

  11. JENCE – “druggy behavior?” How about a person sitting/standing in a parking lot wearing a heavy jacket during a very hot day (person #1). Not uncommon attire for addicts if they are experiencing withdrawl symptoms. #1 person is approached by several different people, they appear to hand one another something small; and #1 is quickly left standing alone. “I’ll bet” #1 “probably” handed a small packet of a drug to the person that approached them, I won’t “speculate” on what drug it is was; and the person handed #1 some cash. Unfortunately, this is an activity reported in some of our neighborhoods. According to Law & Order on TV I believe this qualifies as a “druggy behavior.” Take care…..
