On December 13, 2025, at approximately 4:33 a.m., the Santa Barbara Police Department’s Communications Center received a report of a sexual assault that occurred near the creek on Santa Barbara City College’s East Campus, off Rancheria Street.

Santa Barbara Police Officers responded, contacted the survivor, and began an initial investigation. Detectives from the Investigative Division responded shortly thereafter and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Initial information indicates the survivor was walking alone at the time of the assault and did not know the suspect. A suspect description is not available at this time. Detectives are actively and diligently investigating this case.

The Santa Barbara Police Department recognizes the profound impact incidents like this have on survivors and the broader community. We commend the survivor for coming forward and are committed to conducting a thorough investigation while providing appropriate support and resources.
