Santa Barbara Police are investigating a reported altercation that took place at Leadbetter Beach late Sunday morning.

At 11:51AM, the Santa Barbara Police Department Communication Center received several calls about a disturbance between two males.  One of the involved male subjects was reportedly armed with a firearm or taser and the other involved subject had armed himself with a fishing spear, according to the police department.

Santa Barbara patrol officers responded to the scene. When they arrived, both subjects had separated. One walked away on the beach towards Leadbetter Point while the other rode a bicycle eastbound through the lot, SBPD states.

The male on the beach was contacted and in possession of a portion of a fishing spear.  He provided a statement to the officers.  An extensive search was conducted for the other subject, who was never located.

Based on several independent witnesses, as well as the involved male’s statement,  it appears the outstanding male possessed and brandished a taser like device, SBPD states.

At this time, SBPD states the incident appears to be isolated and there are no public safety concerns.

  1. What does the city administrator say about this? or the police chief .I thought it was a self regulated felon parking lot. rhe last 20 +years. I ride my bike through there all the time and it looks pretty rough ( see
alterations drug dealings illegal activity plainview all day long)imagine something like this could possibly happen, if somebody did something about it ahead of time this wouldn’t have happened. The only time the police come in there is if somebody called and are not busy doing something else

  2. Why s every n idea e of violence “isolated” with no public concern.
Unless you are the public who is attacked randomly.

Nothing to see here folks just more violence nothing out of the usual for Santa Barbara.
When did we become LA? Ask the Mayor he’s been in City Council for 12 years? While the rest of them have been on council or around for about a decade?
