Santa Barbara Man Arrested for Allegedly Injecting Teen with Methamphetamine, Sexual assault

A 50-year-old Santa Barbara man is in custody after sheriff’s detectives arrested him in connection with allegations that he provided methamphetamine to a 17-year-old girl and sexually assaulted her, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday.

Jeffrey Kyle Snyder was arrested June 30 following a two-month investigation that began in May 2026, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Investigation began in May

Detectives said they learned Snyder met the teen online and eventually arranged to meet her in person. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the investigation revealed that while at Snyder’s residence in the 2400 block of Painted Cave Road, he injected the girl with methamphetamine and sexually assaulted her.

On June 30, detectives located Snyder in the 2500 block of Mesa School Road and took him into custody as he was exiting a rideshare vehicle, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Charges and bail

Snyder was booked into the Santa Barbara County Main Jail on a felony charge of providing narcotics to a juvenile. He was also booked on an outstanding warrant for violation of probation stemming from a prior witness intimidation case, according to the announcement.

Snyder remains in custody with bail set at $325,000.

The Sheriff’s Office said additional charges related to the investigation have been forwarded to the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Due to the victim’s age and the ongoing nature of the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said no additional details about the victim will be released.
