Update by the edhat staff

What a festive parade that was on Friday night. There were many vibrant colors representing this year’s theme Colors of the Season among the marching bands, floats, and rockin’ bands. But what about the Santa Hats? Per usual, there were many! It was hard for the edhat staff to keep up with all the fuzzy red hats floating by.

Ultimately, we counted the final number. And it is …. 1092 Santa Hats. Congratulations to edhat subscriber LouWho who had the closest guess of 1223 wins an edhat bag and a special gift from Santa!

Did you also see edhat’s musical float? A group of talented Carpinteria-based musicians rocked out with a heavy metal version of holiday songs. Thanks to Ricardo for snapping the below photo of the edhat float:

It’s that time of year again! The nights are a bit colder, hot cocoa is a drink of choice, and Santa hats are on full display.

This coming Friday, on the 1st of December at 6:30 p.m.,  more than 65,000 spectators will crowd around State Street from Sola to Cota to view Santa Barbara’s only nighttime parade, the 65th Annual Downtown Santa Barbara Holiday Parade.

You know what that means! It’s time for edhat’s annual Santa Hat Counting Contest. The edhat reader who guesses the closest number of Santa hats worn during the parade by Friday, December 1st at 4:00 p.m. will receive a prize! But that’s not all, we have a second contest too!

This year’s parade is presented by Consumer Fire Products Inc. and the theme is “Colors of the Season.” Marching bands, holiday-themed floats, and group performances will trek down State Street in Holiday style. There’s a total of 89 group participants this year, but keep your eyes open for #78, edhat’s very own and first ever holiday float! Send us a picture of our edhat float to ed@edhat.com and whichever photo Ed likes best will win a prize!

This year’s Grand Marshal is actor and local resident Noah Wyle who is best known for his award-winning work for 12 seasons on the NBC drama ER.

Enter your Santa Hat guess below and keep your cameras handy for that edhat float to win another prize!
