The Santa Barbara Historical Museum has reopened as an outdoor museum with the installation of “Project Fiesta: The History of Old Spanish Days.”
The museum’s courtyard showcases the pageantry, fashion, and traditions of the Old Spanish Days festival.
Through art, film, vintage posters, costume, historical photographs, and memories visitors will discover the beginnings of this festival since its inception in 1924.
Entry to the outdoor exhibition is free and it will be set up through August 22nd. The Museum is currently open limited hours: Thursdays, noon-5pm, Fridays, noon-7pmand Saturdays, noon-5pm.

A crowd has gathered at the U.S. Post Office at 1130 State Street to enjoy Fiesta’s 1936 Historical Parade. In 1941 the building became home to the newly minted Santa Barbara Museum of Art. (Postcard, John Fritsche Collection, Gledhill Library)
