The Santa Barbara Foresters baseball team ended its season early during a quarter-final loss during the National Baseball Congress (NBC) World Series last week.
The Foresters were competing against the Lonestar Kraken from Texas holding a 4-4 tie into the ninth inning when the Kraken’s pulled out two more runs to earn a 6-4 win.
The Kraken dominated most of the game, leading the Foresters 4-1 until the eighth inning where Santa Barbara scored three to tie the game. After back-to-back two-out doubles with a run, the Foresters’ Brenton Clark hit a game-tying homerun.
After the Kraken took the lead in the ninth inning, the Foresters got a man on base, but struck out three times, ending their season.
They Foresters finish at 27-11 overall and 23-9 in the California Collegiate League. They have won a total of 10 championships in the NBC Tournament.
