Sansum Clinic Charging for Emails?

By an edhat reader

Did anyone else notice that Sansum Clinic is now charging for emailing a physician?

I understood the memo as if it takes the doctor more than 5 minutes in handling their response then we are charged for a full appointment time. Is this reasonable?

  1. Very reasonable. If you do not want to be charged for this service, just refrain from sending them email. When I send my accountant or attorney email, I expect and am charged for their time. “Free” services from health-care providers only applies if you have no money, no insurance, no job, and so on. A close friend of mine was in the no job/insurance/money category and had major surgery performed at Cottage for a broken ankle sustained when running from the cops on his bicycle. His bill: $0,00.
