The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Barbara Police Department and the California Highway Patrol want to remind participants of this year’s Fiesta Cruiser Ride to be safe and obey the rules of the road. The unsanctioned annual bicycle ride is scheduled for this Sunday, August 5, 2018, and traditionally starts in the City of Santa Barbara’s waterfront area and travels through the unincorporated area of Santa Barbara County to Isla Vista and back.

Law enforcement personnel from the Sheriff’s Office, SBPD and CHP will be monitoring the ride and will issue citations to bicyclists who violate traffic laws. Some of the most common bicycle related Vehicle Code violations include, failure to ride as close as practical to the right hand curb and failure to obey red signal lights and stop signs. It is also important to note that it is unlawful for any person to ride a bicycle upon a highway while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage or any drug, or under the combined influence of an alcoholic beverage and any drug.

  1. No problem it’s a fun bike ride been going on for over 30+ years! Also if your not going to have the people selling caserone eggs to have permits and not show taxes for earnings why are the bike riders maybe being ticketed?? This bike ride is for fun no one is making any money onit!
