By an edhat reader

Do edhatters know what type of runoff this is landing on Hendry’s Beach?

  1. We just had this thing, known commonly as “rain”, which tends to wash things, such as dirt, downhill into drains and eventually to the ocean. I’m sorry you can’t afford to live on the bluffs – me neither. It doesn’t mean that big, mean, rich white men are to blame, though. Although it might be Trump’s fault. Yeah, that’s it.

  2. It’s local runoff from the properties above the bluffs. That means it could contain oil and grease, pesticides, fertilizers, and animal poop, both wild and domestic. There’s a reason they tell you not to go surfing for at least 3 days after a rain event, and the reason is this pollution.
