PITLOCAL absolutely correct. I will continue to say, until someone hears me, that all we need to do is install some stop signs at a few places. Especially at the entrance to Lake Cachuma where so many people get smacked. Then the measured time for the route will be slightly longer than taking the 101 and all the algorithms will reconfigure and tell the speeders to take the coast route.

Most vehicle navigation systems direct drivers over the 154 instead of the 101. I think that results in increased traffic on the 154, and consequently increased accidents. The 101 is so much safer and given the traffic and other delays on the 154, it's usually not a significant difference in timing. I only take the 154 if I absolutely have to.

DUKE you're right. I use it twice daily for my work commute, I see all kinds of puzzling driving behaviors every day. It'd be nice if it wasn't a suggested route for 101 travelers, and only used for residents and people who have business along the route or in/from SYV. But alas, we don't live in a perfect world ;)
