On July 17, 2019, at approximately 2114 hours, a minor injury traffic collision occurred on US-101 southbound.  A twenty-year-old Santa Barbara man [Matthew Park], was driving his 2009 Mercedes, which left the roadway and traveled down the embankment, between US-101 southbound and the State Street off ramp.  The front of the Mercedes struck a tree and overturned.  The driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision. The driver sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision [head and arm lacerations].
The State Street off-ramp was closed for approximately 1 1/2 hours during the on-scene investigation.  The weather at the time of this collision was clear, cool, and calm, and traffic was light.  Traffic on the freeway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation.

Mr. Park was determined not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The collision remains under investigation at this time.
