Rollover Traffic Collision on Highway 101

On July 17, 2019, at approximately 2114 hours, a minor injury traffic collision occurred on US-101 southbound. A twenty-year-old Santa Barbara man [Matthew Park], was driving his 2009 Mercedes, which left the roadway and traveled down the embankment, between US-101 southbound and the State Street off ramp. The front of the Mercedes struck a tree and overturned. The driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision. The driver sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision [head and arm lacerations].
The State Street off-ramp was closed for approximately 1 1/2 hours during the on-scene investigation. The weather at the time of this collision was clear, cool, and calm, and traffic was light. Traffic on the freeway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation.
Mr. Park was determined not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The collision remains under investigation at this time.
