Rollover Traffic Collision Injures One on Highway 246

A 70-year-old man was flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with major injuries following a rollover traffic accident on Wednesday.

At 2:38 p.m., Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle accident in 7600 block of W. Highway 246, just west of Buellton. They discovered a Jeep Cherokee had rolled onto its roof with a single occupant, the driver, still inside.

The driver, a 70-year-old male was found to have major injuries. He was extricated from the vehicle and transported via ambulance to an area in Williams Ranch that served as a temporary landing zone for CalStar 7 helicopter. The man was then flown to Santa Barara Cottage Hospital’s trauma center.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating this incident.
