Rollover Collision on Highway 154

By the edhat staff

A vehicle rollover on Highway 154 caused lanes to shut down on Wednesday afternoon.

At 12:41 p.m. a vehicle rolled and landed on its roof in the eastbound lanes near the Bradbury Dam in Santa Ynez, just south of Lake Cachuma.

It was a solo vehicle collision and the single occupant declined medical attention, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The eastbound lane was closed for a period of time but the roadway is currently open.

The cause of the collision in under investigation.

  1. Dude, its the 154.
My categories of drivers on this road –
    1. Locals convinced they can handle the speed because they have driven it for years. Like battle hardened soldiers, they are mostly very competent drivers but they can appear as aggressive to the uninitiated.
    2. Casino Junkies – if heading there, they are speeding like heck because they know they are close to their jackpot. If heading home from the casino, then sleep deprived, hungover, and distracted thinking of how they tell their family that they blew the rent money.
    3. Wine Tasters – these are the Neo-sophisticated imbibers who will tell you they only had two samplers…each…at fourteen tasting rooms…before noon. They run into a lot of power poles and trees around the Valley. Curvy roads throw them off something fierce.
    4. Road Racers – these are the testosterone fueled drivers looking to “see what this thing can do”. Lots of Honda Civics and pre-owned BMWs if on a budget, but also includes the pricier rides of the middle age crisis gangs. This is the prick who passes fourteen cars at a time and usually ends up with a deer in the windshield…or off the road upside down asking “what happened?”
    5. Lost Campers – the gullible RV drivers and Toy Hauler crowd led into the deathtrap of the 154 by their slavish obedience to Google Maps. “Look Honey, we can save 12 minutes by going this way”. Of the list, these are the most clueless in my opinion.
