  1. If your power goes out, or you start experiencing brown outs… think about unplugging your major appliances, or turning breakers off until the power is stabilized. Might go a long way to saving your appliances, computers, water heaters, etc….

  2. When I saw the smoky sunrise this morning I thought we may have a local fire. I checked the visible band weather photo, and it turns out the smoke is from the fire in the southern Sierras wrapping its way all the way here. The way the state is going, only wealthy people will have whole house uninterruptible electrical power. This state has enough natural gas to keep the power on 24/7, but the political climate forbids it.

  3. Wow, you still have running water and flush toilets and frozen stuff that will last a while. Electricity will return. How is this like 1880? I’d give you my electricity for a day, or more, if I could, while I count my blessings in my full pantry and drink clean water.

  4. My understanding of history is that most great nations were eventually brought down by the unsustainable spending on foreign wars and debt to maintain their empires. Compare this to our situation today where spending on defense, federal law enforcement, CIA, and Homeland Security is about a $trillion (1,000,000,000,000) per year. The estimated amount wasted on the Bush Iraqi and Afghanistan misadventures is about $5Trillion, or about the estimated required spending to improve our infrastructure. History doesn’t repeat, but sometimes it rhymes.

  5. Yes. What a joke. This state won’t be able to make enough solar power 300 years to negate the carbon we have been creating with all the homeless, arsonist and other fires. Not to mention all the gas powered generators being bought and used because we can’t keep the power on.
