Robbery Victim Injured in Santa Maria

On 12-16-18, at approximately 7:53 PM, SMPD Officers responded to the 100 block of N. Benwiley regarding a robbery. It was reported that the victim sustained an injury as a result of the robbery. Officers arrived on the scene and located the suspect, who was leaving the area on foot. The suspect, later identified as Demetrius Johnson, 37, fled from officers and failed to comply with their orders. With the assistance of the Santa Maria Police Canine, Johnson was taken into custody. Johnson was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on multiple offenses. The victim was treated at Marian Regional Medical Center for injuries sustained as a result of the robbery.
