Actor and local resident Rob Lowe has just put his 10,000 square foot Montecito home on the market for $47 million.

Lowe and his wife Sheryl have been long-time residents where they’ve raised their two sons. The home boasts six bedrooms and eight full/three partial bathrooms with a total of twenty rooms.

The “American-style manor” sits on 3.4 acres and was built with Architect Don Nulty and landscape architect Mark Rios, as well as input from feng shui master David Cho.

Views of the home show the best of both worlds in Santa Barbara County. Windows frame the ocean while the pool gazes back toward the Santa Ynez mountains. Many upper-level spaces benefit from balconies or access to an expansive veranda that overlooks the manicured gardens.

The Lowe’s described it as a “house perfect for mud boots or high heels” when featured in Architectural Digest.

The grounds also encompass a two-bedroom guesthouse with a kitchenette, an 800-square-foot pool cabana with a full kitchen and a bedroom, and a championship tennis court with two viewing areas.

Other celebrities owning massive estates in the Montecito area are Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Gwyneth Paltrow and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

  1. So true. None of these environmental famous stars are anything close to that. They all pillage all they touch, treat their staff like slaves and run to Twitter and Facebook to be the victims of the fires and floods and the super stars by giving food out or whatever can make them look better. Work in the Serive industry in Montecito. You’ll understand. If you don’t work in this industry.. zip it.

  2. It may be a very hard sell as it is in the path of potential future debris flows and firestorms. Certainly close enough to all of the recent disasters to make someone who could afford such a home think twice about buying, or offering an extreme lowball offer for living in such a precarious location. There must be some reason it is not selling, and my guess is the location, location, location.

  3. Roger, I thought the same thing as he is well-known as an environmentalist. Reminds me a bit of Mr. Enviro Gore…the one who bought a Montecito “charmer” with five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, six fireplaces, fountains, pools, spas…you know, the kind of place people buy when they are concerned about the environment. Uncle Albert, the energy wasting water hog.

  4. His current address 700 Picacho Ln, Santa Barbara, CA 93108
some of addresses up in that area have been:
771 Garden Ln, Santa Barbara, CA 93108
646 Romero Canyon Rd, Santa Barbara, CA 93108
700 Picacho Ln, Santa Barbara, CA 93108
735 Fuera Ln, Santa Barbara, CA 93108

  5. And what exactly does this have to do with anything here except his address already given here today and more times than anyone could count by this obsession by Rex. Just give it up…and if you really don’t know…. Google search is much quicker.

  6. Rob Lowe was the whole reason for the Santa Barbara Newspress blowup. He asked the owner Wendy not to publish his address when he was filing city permit papers re: the neighbors concerns re: sight lines, edge too tall, etc., etc. The Newspress staff had always published addresses re: city permits, etc. It led to protests, multiple people getting fired, the Newspress spying on workers computers, a heavy handed depressing environment.
Now he glorifies the firemen, the Bucket Brigade, “our community”, followed quickly by selling his home in “our community” due to debris flow damage.
