Road Closures and Progress Update for Casitas Pass

Construction Update
Timeframe:  July 7 – 13, 2019

Closures

• Monday, July 8th
  • Northbound Highway 101 will be closed between Bailard and Linden Avenues from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am. Please refer to the detour on the map below.
• Tuesday and Wednesday, July 9th & 10th
  • Southbound Highway 101 will be closed between Linden and Bailard Avenues from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am. Please refer to the detour on the map below.
• Thursday, July 11th
  • One lane on northbound Highway 101 between Bailard and Linden Avenues and the northbound Highway 101 on-ramp at Linden Avenuewill be closed from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am.
  • One lane on southbound Highway 101 between Linden and Bailard Avenues and the southbound Highway 101 off-ramp at Casitas Pass Road will be closed from 8:00 pm to 7:00 am.
  • One lane on Highway 101 will remain open in each direction during this work.
• Southbound Highway 101 off-ramp at Linden Avenue
  • (temporarily closed – details below)

Linden Avenue Overcrossing

• Crews will be installing wood forms and pouring concrete for the wing walls adjacent to the new overcrossing. Temporary supports (falsework) used to build the center columns will also be removed at night (see closures above).

• Highway 101
  • Crews will restripe lanes on Thursday night (see closures above).
• Sound Walls
  • Northbound Highway 101 between Linden Avenue and Franklin Creek (behind Nipomo Drive)
    • Block installation and foundation work are ongoing for the new sound wall near the Linden Avenue Overcrossing. Grading will occur near wall areas that are complete.
  • Southbound Highway 101 between Franklin Creek and the off-ramp at Linden Avenue
    • Block installation for the new wall will begin.
• New drainage improvements are being installed along southbound Highway 101 between Franklin Creek and Casitas Pass Road.

• Southbound Highway 101 on-ramp at Casitas Pass Road
  • The new on-ramp is open, and the temporary ramp has been removed. Crews will also be grading the slopes and working on additional drainage improvements.

Ongoing Temporary Closure

• Southbound Highway 101 off-ramp at Linden Avenue
  • The Highway 101 off-ramp at Linden Avenue is closed for approximately 6-9 months. Crews will build a new off-ramp along with extensive drainage improvements, new retaining walls, and safety barriers (see rendering below). Please use the off-ramps at Reynolds Avenue or Casitas Pass Road to access the beach and downtown Carpinteria (see detour map below).
