Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling will shut down its Ventura facility on July 10, affecting 85 employees and marking the latest consolidation move by the regional Coca-Cola manufacturer, according to a state filing announced Friday.

Of the 85 employees, 78 are expected to be reassigned to other facilities, and the remaining workers can apply for openings at other Coca-Cola plants, the company said. Operations from Ventura will be transferred to other Southern California locations.

The decision followed a regular assessment of the company’s locations and services “to ensure sustainable business growth,” a Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling spokesperson said to the LA Times. “We expect this transition to better position us for long-term growth and enhanced service for our customers and consumers. As always, we’ve communicated this important update to our employees and stakeholders.”

Under state law, employers must submit a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) at least 60 days before major layoffs or closures; Reyes filed the initial notice Friday.

The Ventura shutdown comes amid broader restructuring by Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling, which recently closed facilities in American Canyon and Salinas. The company, a subsidiary of Reyes Holdings, operates 22 distribution centers in California, including two production centers in Los Angeles, and runs 50 facilities across 10 states. Reyes Holdings oversees major beverage distribution operations and serves as McDonald’s largest global distributor.

Coca-Cola’s presence in Ventura dates to 1912, when a bottling operation opened in the city. While the current site functions as a distribution center, the closure caps more than a century of local soda-bottling heritage tied to one of Ventura’s oldest industrial footprints. The facility’s final day of operation is scheduled for July 10.
