Retired Teachers Association Awards Scholarships to Future Teachers

The Santa Barbara Retired Teachers Association held their annual Scholarship Dinner at Vista del Monte Retirement Community on May 20, 2019.  After a tasty dinner and wonderful performance by the San Marcos Madrigals, SBRTA awarded a total of five scholarships to local public high school students and the University of California Santa Barbara students all who are planning on becoming teachers.  

With the assistance of the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara, the following $2500 Erna Maurer Scholarships were awarded to:

• Allison Speshyock from Dos Pueblos High School
• Alyssa Rodriguez from Dos Pueblos High School
• Sofia Chicote Cohee from Santa Barbara High School

With the assistance of UCSB, the following scholarships were awarded:

• Lindsey Campbell received a $3000 Laura E. Settle Scholarship
• Jayne Ward received a $3000 Anne and Harry Scales Scholarship
