Dec 27, 2020 07:00 AMI just read the article on Noozhawk about SB city's new attempt to get a handle of the homeless problem. Without cooperation of Caltrans and Union Pacific, the homeless issues, like the encampments and fires, will not go away. Caltrans and Union Pacific must rid the area of the encampments on their property. It should not be that hard. See a tent; take it down. Immediately.

Dec 27, 2020 09:17 AMFITZ: I think it’s actually a lot more complicated than you are asserting. Where do you propose the people living in those tents go? Are you offering your backyard? While I agree the fires along the freeway are very alarming and clearly pose a risk I don’t think it’s so simple as you propose to just continuously kick these homeless people out. It would seem like an endless cycle that would require a constant patrol. At the end of the day these poor souls must exist somewhere. Perhaps a better solution would be a collaboration with caltrans and the city to periodically clear the thick dry vegetation and dead trees that pose such a fire risk?

Dec 27, 2020 09:59 AMThere's no profit in ridding the town of homeless people..
There ARE however, millions in grant & donation funds to keep the "Golden-goose"
alive & honking.
