Red Flag Warning Until Sunday Morning

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a High Wind Warning for the Santa Barbara County South Coast and mountain areas from 6pm tonight (9/7) to 3am tomorrow (9/8). Winds in excess of 60mph possible between Refugio and Gaviota. Note that sudden power outages and flying debris (e.g., branches, palm fronds) may occur during high winds. When driving, use extra caution. Be prepared for sudden gusty cross winds.

El Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (NWS) emitió una Advertencia de Vientos Fuertes para la costa sur y montañas del Condado de Santa Bárbara desde las 6 p.m. esta noche (9/7) hasta las 3 a.m. mañana (9/8). Vientos en exceso de 60 mph son posibles entre Refugio y Gaviota. Tenga en cuenta que pueden ocurrir cortes de energía repentinos y escombros voladores (por ejemplo, ramas, hojas de palma) durante vientos fuertes. Tenga mucho cuidado al manejar. Prepárese para vientos que cruzan y ráfagas.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Red Flag Warning for the Santa Barbara County Mountains and the South Coast from 2pm this afternoon (9/7) until 9am tomorrow (9/8). In addition, Southern California Edison (SCE) has indicated that power outages (PSPS) are still possible for areas of western Goleta to Jalama until 6pm tonight due to hot, dry and windy weather. El Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (NWS, por sus siglas en inglés) ha emitido una Alerta Roja (conocido como “Red Flag Warning” en inglés) para las montañas del condado de Santa Bárbara y la costa sur desde las 2 p.m. esta tarde (9/7) hasta las 9 a.m. mañana (9/8). Además, Southern California Edison (SCE) ha indicado que cortes de energía (PSPS, por sus siglas en inglés) todavía son posibles para las áreas del oeste de Goleta y Jalama hasta las 6 p.m. esta noche debido a condiciones climáticas cálidas, secas y ventosas. Due to the critical fire weather today into Saturday and Sunday, we have approval from Cal Fire to upstaff the following on 9/6/19 through 0800 on Monday 9/9/19:

• Crew 1-1 and Dozers 1 & 2 (24 hrs.)
• Crew 1-2 (starting at 1200 hrs. today)
• WT18 with 2.0 staffing (starting at 1200 hrs. today)
• 1-Crew and 1-Dozer will stage near Station 18 this afternoon
• Strong sundowner winds including hot, dry fire weather conditions are forecasted through the weekend.

…FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM SATURDAY THROUGH 7 AM  SUNDAY FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY OVER PARTS OF SANTA BARBARA COUNTY…

Sundowner winds combined with warm and dry conditions are expected to impact portions of Santa Barbara County through the weekend. Peak wind gusts will range between 40 and 50 mph, with isolated gusts to 60 mph near Gaviota. Gusty winds to 40 mph will spread into areas near the Montecito Hills after midnight as winds turn north to northeast. Humidities will get down into the
teens in some areas and temperatures will be in the 80s to lower 90s in the afternoon and evening hours.
