Red Cross Disaster Response Virtual Volunteer Fair

Source: Red Cross

Did you know that Red Cross is the second responder to both manmade and natural disasters small or large? Or that 90% of Red Cross’ life-changing humanitarian services are carried out by volunteers? Because of this, the need for volunteers is constant and it remains our top priority to safely deliver these critical services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To share more about how anyone can get involved in our mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the event of emergencies, we are hosting a Disaster Response Virtual Volunteer Fair on Monday, February 22nd 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Whatever your schedule and interests, whether you want to volunteer from home or in the field, locally or nationally, working with kids or adults, together we can find the right fit for you! View the flyer here.

During this Virtual Volunteer Fair, we will talk more about who we are, what we do, and highlight some of our most needed positions within our Disaster Cycle Service department such as:

Disaster Action Team (DAT)
Volunteers assist individuals and families by responding to home fires within the community in order to provide financial assistance, emotional support, and ensure that their immediate needs are met. Click hear to read a firsthand account from one of our Pacific Coast DAT volunteers.

Disaster Mass Care Team
Volunteers support people who are evacuated by a disaster. They help with tasks like reception, registration, feeding, sheltering, information collection and other vital tasks. We have both associate and supervisory level opportunities available.

Disaster Health Services
Volunteers are licensed health care professionals that provide hands on medical care for people affected by disasters. Assist our clients with activities of daily living, replacing medication and medical equipment lost in a disaster, and conduct health assessments as needed.

To RSVP to attend this event and for further information go to: redcross.org/PacificCoastVolunteer or contact Jennifer Samaritan at jennifer.samaritan@redcross.org.

Disasters don’t stop during a pandemic, but neither do we. Join our Virtual Volunteer Fair so you can be ready to roll up your sleeves to help those in need.
