Recognition of Life Saver Award

The Montecito Fire Department honored those whose collective efforts saved the life of a Montecito resident, who suffered sudden cardiac arrest on July 22, 2017. 

Fire Chief Chip Hickman presented the awards at the monthly Board of Directors meeting at the Montecito Fire Department.  The recipients of the Life Saver Award were recognized for their individual efforts, providing emergency medical care and assistance, using CPR and AED skills in a situation in which the patient would have died, had he not received immediate intervention. The fully recovered patient attended the meeting, and had the opportunity to meet the following recipients:

Community members: Rosario Alfaro, Ramon Adams, Roberta Tracy, Maude Boersema. 

Santa Barbara County Sheriff Deputy Steven Gonzales, Dispatchers Rachel Chester and Shannon McLeod

American Medical Response Paramedic Brad Moore and Emergency Medical Technician Sterling Marshall.

Montecito Fire Department Dispatcher Jennifer Taylor; Fire Captain Richard Lauritson, Engineer Loren Bass; Firefighters Daniel Arnold, Keith Powell and Firefighter/Paramedic Ryland McCracken.
