Sales Tax Results for the Quarter Ended June 30, 2019

Santa Barbara received $5.70 million in sales tax revenues during the quarter ended June 30, 2019, which is 18.2% more than the same quarter last year. This unusually high growth was due to a delayed payment from the state for the quarter ended June 30, 2018.  By way of comparison, the two year growth from June 2017 to June 2019 is 5.2%.

As the second largest General Fund revenue, the sales tax budget for fiscal year is $22,273,000. Sales tax results for the September quarter will be available in November 2019.

Transient Occupancy Tax Results for the City of Santa Barbara

The City of Santa Barbara collected approximately $2.38 million in transient occupancy taxes (TOT) for August 2019, which is 2.1% above August of last year.  

The City has collected approximately $4.77 million in TOT revenues through the first two months of this fiscal year, which runs from July 1 through June 30.  The City’s adopted TOT budget is $19,989,179.
