The Santa Barbara County Fire Department confirmed a brush fire was extinguished on the Ellwood Bluffs in Goleta Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the area near Santa Barbara Shores and the Deveraux Slough for a report of smoke with flames scene at 1:32 p.m.

Two fire engines and several crews arrived on the scene and were able to stop the forward progress of the fire by 2:14 p.m.

The fire reached approximately 1/4 of an acre in size. There were no reported injuries or structure damages.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Scanner traffic indicated a person of interest was seen leaving the area, although this has yet to be confirmed by officials.

Around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, County firefighters responded to a brush fire along the Ellwood Bluffs in Goleta.

Crews responded to where Santa Barbara Shores Drive dead-ends into the bluffs.

Fire appears to be winding down or mostly under control as units have been released from the scene.

Sheriff’s Deputies are also in the area for a possible arson suspect who was seen leaving the area of the fire dressed in camouflage.
