Caltrans District 5 will accept public comments on the US Highway 101 San Jose Creek Bridge Replacement Project beginning Friday, December 13 until Friday, January 17.  The public may review the Initial Study with a Proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration/Environmental Assessment at the following locations:

  • City of Goleta Planning Office at 130 Cremona Drive in Goleta.
  • Goleta Valley Library at 500 North Fairview Avenue in Goleta.
  • Santa Barbara County Planning Office at 123 East Anapamu in Santa Barbara.
  • Santa Barbara Public Library at 40 East Anapamu in Santa Barbara.

The initial study can also be reviewed on the Caltrans District 5 webpage: https://dot.ca.gov/caltrans-near-me/district-5/district-5-current-projects

Caltrans plans to replace the existing northbound and southbound San Jose Creek Bridges on US Highway 101 in the City of Goleta.  These structures contain reactive aggregate which could compromise their integrity over time.

Public comments or a request for a public hearing can be emailed to Matt Fowler at  matt.fowler@dot.ca.gov or sent by US Mail to Matt Fowler, Caltrans District 5, 50 Higuera Street, San Luis Obispo, CA. 93401 by Friday, January 17.
