Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Settle in Santa Barbara

By edhat staff

Santa Barbara is getting a bit classier as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly purchased a home in the Santa Barbara area.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who recently left the royal family, bought a private family home in Santa Barbara in early June with plans to put down permanent roots and bring up their one-year-old son Archie, according to Page Six.

“This is the first home either of them has ever owned. It has been a very special time for them as a couple and as a family — to have complete privacy for six weeks since they moved in. They intend to put down their roots in this house and the quiet community, which has considerable privacy. This is where they want to bring Archie up, where they hope he can have as normal a life as possible,” according to a source for Page Six

It’s unclear what neighborhood the couple will be living, although many speculate it’s most likely in Montecito where other celebrities such as Oprah and Ellen DeGeneres, have significant privacy.

  1. Why are these mean spirited people posting negative comments about this? I have never heard any negative things about them, and they have done a lot of work for charities and good causes. Does it make you feel better to (anonymously) tear other people down? How sad for you.

  2. Meghan, Harry & Archie, welcome to the “hood”. SB is a fabulous place to call home. Here’s a couple of tips from a true local….
Be kind, be patient, wait your turn (just like the rest of us), don’t drive to fast, please don’t honk your horn, if you expect “special” treatment you will be disappointed and I don’t want you to be disappointed, I like to think that the “rich & famous” live here because here we are far less interested in how much you’re worth, what you do for a living or who your parents are as we are really only interested in who you are, as people..so be a good neighbor, care about your fellows and someday, maybe even tomorrow we will become friends.

  3. Scanning the media articles there is a claim this is in the same “gated” community where Ashton Crutcher lives. But the media hint are all over the place and the purchase price was bumped up to $10 million, not $8 million. If this is what it takes to preserve their privacy, so be it. But at least be sincere and consistent about the demand.
Scanning the media, and the paparazzi fever, reveals locations of so many more “celebrities” that have managed to stay under the radar living here. Thank goodness.

  4. And got a deal, paid 11.1M but it was valued at more than that. Who doesn’t want a thrifty neighbor? How much space do you need for 3 people, a house staff, and a security team? Maybe is not quite so lavish when you think of it in those terms.

  5. With respect, the article is wrong. Their presence her does not make us “classier” unless one is speaking of increasing the distinctions between ordinary people and “royals.” Please remember these two did not earn their wealth or their ability to buy multi-million dollar places. The royal families stole this from the people over ages. Venerating such theft just because it is “tradition” makes one believe that democracy is never really going to work.
