Hello edhat community, I'm looking for some plant advice. What type of hedge do you recommend will do best while in a large pot?

I'm wanting something that will grow pretty full, dense, and tall to act as a privacy screen but want to be able to keep it potted so I can move it if necessary. Thank you in advance.

I am also looking for such a plant. I see a bamboo in a planter in my neighborhood and it looks very nice. But there are so many kinds of bamboo available. What is the bamboo that grows tall and narrow. like sticks? I need something that would thrive in a pot no more than 6 inches in thickness. (narrow space along a driveway in front of a fence.

Black bamboo makes a really nice hedge. However. It is important to keep it contained in the pot. The roots (look up "running rhizomes") spread easliy and the plant can be VERY invasive. If it gets loose, it will wreck your driveway.

Grewia kafra (the shortened common name….often just called Grewia. It can be purchased “staked” which sounds like it will serve your purpose. Lovely little purple perennial buds, frequented by hummingbirds.

I have a very large Ficus Nitida growing in a large pot and it is doing very well.

If you would consider faux hedge: I lived in a place with total direct sunlight all day and no potted hedges survived. (Short not tall) one day spotted high quality U/V resistant outdoor faux plants in a catalogue. I tried them. They lasted for years! These were faux boxwood bushes, and you might want more height, but just a thought…

We use Ligustrum Texananum (common Japanese Privet) for clients who want flexible options.
You see them everywhere as large topiaries, and formal entrances. Easy care, fast growing, moderate water, easy to trim. Shiny green leaves, year round. Great looking.
