Is anyone else have a problem with mail sent from our main post office? I have mailed out 2 cards for 2 different occasions and one never got there and the other is majorly delayed. Is anyone else experiencing this? I expected some delay due to COVID restrictions, which is why I mailed them early but this seems excessive especially with one never getting there.

The complaints number I have for the downtown USPS is Tina 805-564-2250. Of course I've never had her answer it, not does she have an answering machine, so good luck.

I got a manager's number and email once and he was pretty responsive. They have to be good now or they might disappear.

Well, they NEVER did call me back !!! Found out that the Post Office does have the paper forwarding form, but you have to ask for it. They don't leave them in the lobby like they used to.

Had to make it harder for people to do this because thieves were forwarding mail and stealing it.

Once again D8, you can do all of this online on usps.com. You can make an account and manage pretty much everything quite easily.

Distancing, staying home as necessary and other measures to limit the Covid spread is slowing everything except hours and minutes down so of course the mail is slower, and signs offered employment before this even started. Delivery is the easy part. Sorting and setting up route bags is much harder and speed is required. Not as easy a job as it looks.

I send and receive letters from my little grandson in Seattle and they go back and forth w/o any problems. The problem with the package I sent him was that I reversed two numbers on the address. A neighbor's son in the same grade recognized his name. He and his Dad walked over, did the ding-dong-step back down the steps. It was a bonus for both boys and has become a neighborhood-kid-no-contact social event. They really miss their friends. They've also taken to writing to each other and their elected representatives!

I've had the opposite experience so far. Packages from the East Coast have been arriving in 2-3 days, while in the past it was 3-4 days. Now, don't get me started on UPS or FedEx delivery times. I've had numerous packages lost the reappear 6 days later or it takes 7 days to get from the UPS hub in Los Angeles to Santa Barbara.

Yes. The latest was a package that was stuck at the downtown location for 10 days before finally being delivered to my home address, which is less than a mile away. So frustrating, but I'm sure their workforce is being heavily impacted during this time.

It's not personal - mail is slow everywhere - I sent two checks in early June which haven't been processed. Check to see how reasonable our post is with other countries which are a lot smaller. Instead of looking for faults or weaknesses in life, try to focus on the good.

Who is looking for faults or weaknesses? What are you talking about? Everyone expects delays during COVID but to have something never delivered for an event - when the person took steps to mail something early - is worth addressing. And who said that by bringing it up and asking if others are having the same experience is not focusing on the good? So tired of soapboxes of ppl acting as if they are more enlightened than others. Usually those are the least enlightened among us.

The post office is a wreck and has been for years. With Covid, and now politicians interjecting mail/not mail in balloting? Prepare for the worst. We could drop Saturday service tomorrow and not miss a beat. Even junk mail is becoming obsolete. But it's not about efficiency or billions "wasted" is it. It's a jobs for vote program that also delivers mail.

I mean the United States Postal Service, not big brown "UPS."

You make sense, but conclude with an illogical assertion. If UPS is tied to voting, it is a real problem! How is supporting voting infrastructure, in the form of the Post Office, a waste of time?

@ 12:55: A small sampling of proven/convicted voter fraud by mail reveals that there are more than 1000 cases. And you think this opposition to mail-in ballots by harvesting, not requiring a SSN, permanent residence, or any other form of verifying the voter is actually legitimate is concocted by the Republicans? Please, wake up and give us a break.

Sorry, but defunding the incredibly necessary U.S. Post Office in order to disable vote by mail is a bad idea, politically driven by Republicans whose leader admits he votes by mail but doesn't think others should. Enough of this bad idea. We have real problems to tackle in the U.S without wasting time on this.

And, since they charge a small fee now to forward the mail, I should get that fee back, since I have NOT gotten the service I paid for. Opinions on that???? ps- everything is done online now. But, what if someone doesn't have access to a computer, or even know how to use a computer......yes, there are some folks that don't know how to use a lot of fancy, more & more complicated electronics.....

The fee is ONE DOLLAR AND FIVE CENTS, and FREE if you do it in branch - no one is required to complete it online. Other fees are only if there is an increased postage cost to get it to your new address (rare). Breathe, and vote for politicians who support USPS funding.

Yes. I submitted a temp forward June 8 and have NOT seen a single piece of mail being forwarded. I even sent "tester" letters, and they still end up in my mailbox at home. I've tried calling the Help line, but can't get through to a real person. First time I called that No-Help line, went thru all the automated questions and answered for over 30min , and the final message they said was that they were not open, and to call back between the hours of .... blah blah blah.!!!!!! So, today, I tried again, and the wait time to speak with a supposedly live person was gonna be over 2 hours..(gave me the option of being put on hold, or they can call me back. I chose the callback option...... well, I made that call at 9am , and it's 12:30pm ..... that is more than 2 hours !!! NOT happy....

@D8, did you try the online management options? Create an account, and you can view pretty much everything. I set up a forwarding service, hold mail service, and tracking/delivery instructions with no problem at all.

I don't plan on yelling or screaming at anyone..... I just want them to fix it.....

Also, if they said it was going to be "over 2 hours," why are you upset that it has been over 2 hours?? That's literally what they said it would be...

Well don't take it out on the USPS phone worker when you get the call back, you seem really fired up. Remember it isn't their fault.

I assume this is the case with all mail as we recently received a postcard for a sale at a local nursery and the date of the event had already passed by several days.
