Possible Scam Artists

If they continue to go door-to-door, they should be easy to catch by the real police.

Watch out for this scam too.... copied... Oxnard Police Department ****Fraud Alert**** (This Just Occurred) A resident got a call from a suspect claiming to be one of our detectives. The suspect was very convincing. He used the name of a real detective and the number that came up on the victim’s phone was an actual Oxnard Police phone number. The suspect claimed that the victim failed to appear as a witness in a court case and that two warrants were issued for her arrest. The suspect said she needed to drive to the Police Dept immediately to settle the matter and it would cost $1400. The suspect told her she needed to remain on the phone the entire time while she was driving to ensure she was coming. He likely did this so she wouldn’t hang up and call someone else to check out the story. These phone scam suspects always create a sense of urgency and try to convince victims to make quick decisions to hand over their money. You should always be suspicious when a stranger contacts you with some wild story and tries to get you to give them money.
