Possible ocean rescue 400 Yards off Rincon Point, might be an overturned Jet Ski. Montecito Fire Department is responding.
That was all I heard came over SBSO Channel...
Wonder why it isn't Carpinteria-Summerland Fire responding?
I have no idea just heard Montecito Fire was responding maybe they are all responding my digital only has a 25 mile reach.
It is Carpinteria-Summerland FD. They are dispatched by Montecito FD. 911 calls from cell phones go to CHP (Ventura in this case) and are rerouted to what they think is the correct dispatcher. Montecito's rig numbers are 70s, Carp's are 60s. Roger's "25 mile" reach has nothing to do with it.
I was just saying it only had that far of a reach because according to the company that is all it has sometimes I hear those calls most of the time I don't...As far as scanners go this one sucks.
"Ugh, jetskis." Tell that to the rescuers. Fire Departments hereabouts use two water-rescue specialists on a "jetski" with a towed float for missions where the paddleboard isn't appropriate.
Montecito's antenna is about four miles away from you, Roger. Their priority on your scanner is apparently well below that of City and County frequencies.
Well after reading every comment I still have no clue if they were able to rescue the person in distress. Does anyone if they made it out ok?
How did a post about a water rescue turn political?
Same as all those on your old fave used to. Yep it's even worse here.
Also, if you don't see your post show up after clicking on "Send," simply refresh and it's there. Sure it's Edhat's problem, but if you want to post and read, find your own solution!
Jet Ski or not, I still have no clue what happened to the poor dude in the water!
