  1. Popcorn has come up online again and again, in recent years, as a food to avoid. Mainly because people tend to eat it slathered butter or else it has been prepared to contain a ton of nasty chemicals. “And the popcorn’s hull is a rich source of the antioxidant polyphenols, known to prevent damage to cells. But popcorn consumption does have a few inherent risks, such as:
Serious allergic reactions that some people experience
A choking hazard, especially to children age three or younger, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics
The risk of gastrointestinal problems for those with health conditions that require them to follow a low-residue or low-fiber diet
But the two most common popcorn health risks are both related to the way that most popcorn today is prepared:
Slathered after cooking in unhealthy toppings
Cooked in store-bought microwavable popcorn bags”

  2. Popcorn is one of the leading causes of mortality in zoo animals. It is indigestible for many creatures, never a part of their natural diet, and the fat-sugar-salt is as irresistible to them as it seems to be to humans. It clogs them up. Since some people insist on throwing it over the moats and into cages to get a reaction from the animals, many zoos have discontinued selling it.
