Police StandOff on W. Micheltorena

Santa Barbara Police are searching for a suspect after a dispute escalated on Thursday afternoon.

Roger the Scanner Guy reported hearing a resident in the 1200 block of W. Micheltorena threatened a construction worker a vandalized his truck, according to police scanner traffic.

The incident began around 3:00 p.m. when police were called to the scene and believed the resident, a 56-year-old male, had barricaded himself inside his studio behind a home the contractor was working in.

Extensive police reinforcements, including a K-9 team, were deployed to the area with a search warrant. 

The Santa Barbara Police Department states the suspect got into his vehicle and took action that resulted in an assault with a deadly weapon, as well as making criminal threats, reports KEYT News.

Officers spent hours outside the residence before making a lawful entry for an arrest but the suspect is believed to have walked down the hill on the lower area of Micheltorena. 

The investigation is ongoing.

Possible standoff in the 1200 Block of W. Micheltorena. A subject threatened a construction worker said he was going to beat him with a baseball bat then vandalized the guys truck. SBPD responded and now the subject is believed to be hiding in his studio.
