  1. SB needs to crack down HARD on gangs here. It is escalating quickly and gun violence seems to be increasing. It’s stupid and ridiculous, how come our city isn’t more proactive?! Do we really want the tourists to know how dangerous it is? Shooting at Stearns Wharf highlights the lack of GAF and boundaries that there are. Not that it is the 1st time for gang violence down by the pier. I remember a gang stabbing down there during 4th of July festivities one year… didn’t a teenager die from it? The fireworks still went on though!!

    • A rather “easy” fix to this is to change how juveniles are charges when committing a crime when involved with a gang. Adult gang members know that juveniles will get a very light sentence, so they make them do their dirty work. Charge all juveniles involved in gangs as adults, and the crime reduction will follow. If you need an example of the exploitation, look at 13-year-old Adam Toledo in Chicago who was killed because an adult gang member made him carry a gun to rid himself of legal consequence.

    • Yeah, let’s crack down on gangs. Especially those that have the biggest weapons and most training and connections with power. I suggest we start with the Proud Boys and 3%ers. Maybe move on to the Posses and Militias filled with ex and wanna be law enforcement. (There is probably not one street gang in the nation that has the weaponry of these folks.)
