On January 22, 2026, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Santa Barbara Police Department Officers responded to a report stabbing that had just occurred on the first block of W. Ortega St.
Upon arrival, officers located a victim wounded in the abdomen and began providing medical aid. The victim was transported to Cottage Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
Preliminary information suggests this attack was an isolated incident and there is no indication of an on-going threat to the public.
