Pedestrian struck by a train in the 200 block of West Montecito Street. The Fire Department, Medics, and SBPD are all responding.

Are most pedestrian vs train events suicides? I ask because the trains move fairly slowly through this area with their horns blaring. Kinda hard not to see or hear a train coming.

In response to your question, I failed to add the following to my 08:27 PM post as it relates to alcohol/drugs which suggest an explanation:

In the area involved, trains are historically slow moving as you state. For this reason an "accident" should be considered if the victim was intoxicated. The manner of death could be an "accident" caused by "intoxication?" An impaired person may not be looking to commit suicide by stepping in front of or crawling under a slow moving train. There are laws against intoxication in a public place for good reason.
