A Union Pacific train struck a male pedestrian on the railroad tracks just west of Lookout Park in Summerland on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
The incident took place shortly after 5:00 p.m., according to the Montecito Fire Department.
Firefighters located the male patient and transported him to a hospital with major injuries. His condition and identity were not immediately released.
The railroad tracks have since been cleared and train operations have resumed, officials said.
Montecito Fire responded alongside the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, and American Medical Response.
No additional details about the circumstances leading up to the collision were available Tuesday evening.
