Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Train in Summerland

The Coroner’s Bureau is releasing the name of the decedent who was struck by a train on March 16, 2021 near Lookout Park in Summerland.

The deceased is 24-year-old Jasmine Jimenez of Santa Barbara.

March 16, 2021

On March 16, 2021, at approximately 1:33 pm, Carpinteria-Summerland and Montecito Fire units responded to a reported train v. pedestrian incident.

Firefighters first responded near Fernald Point, however, the actual location was west of Lookout Park in Summerland. 

Paramedics assessed a woman in her 30’s who was pronounced deceased on scene.  The cause of the incident is under investigation.

Responders confirm the death of a pedestrian along the train tracks in Summerland Tuesday, March 16, 2021. The deceased was hit by the Amtrak train between 1 and 2 p.m.
