Work to Take Place August 19-22 and 26-27

The City of Goleta’s Pavement Rehabilitation Project continues with work on Cathedral Oaks Road. Pavement work from Winchester Canyon to Evergreen Drive will begin this Monday, August 19 – Thursday, August 22 and Monday, August 26 –  27. Work will take place from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Additional work will be done at a later date. (The Goleta Water District is currently doing work in the area but will be done before the City’s project begins.)

There will be detours starting on both ends of the intersections of Cathedral Oaks/Evergreen Drive & Cathedral Oaks/ Winchester Canyon Rd. One lane on Cathedral Oaks will be open at all times for residents to travel east and west during the pavement work. There will be flaggers assisting vehicles.

Phase one of the paving on north Fairview Avenue from US 101 to Calle Real is also wrapping up tonight, August 15. Work will take place during overnight hours (10:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.). The US 101 freeway on-ramp and off-ramp will remain open.

Storke Road from Hollister Avenue to the US 101 southbound on-ramp completed phase one earlier this week. The slurry seal and striping will be completed at a later date.

The Pavement Rehabilitation Project is part of the City’s ongoing effort to maintain and improve the City’s road network by restoring and resurfacing the existing pavement to prevent further damage and extend its lifespan. The work will also include installing new striping and markings to improve visibility for drivers and accessibility compliant curb ramp upgrades which will be done at a later date. Work is expected to be completed by November 2024.

Residents and motorists can expect minor disruptions during construction, including lane closures and detours. Please plan your routes accordingly and follow all traffic signage and instructions from construction crew workers.
